I knew back in the 80s what beautiful and iconic motors the old Mercs were. Primary colours, boxy shape, unmistakably German. So we take the standard two-strip oak neck, and a nice flat humbucker to try and do justice to the iconic 3-point design. Standard 56cm bridge to bridge and tuned G-D-G with string gauge .42mm, .34mm and .22mm wound strings. Plays beautifully and looks just as good on a man-shed wall.
